Everyone’s talking about living in Ta’ Xbiex, Malta

.... And with very good reason! What is it about Ta' Xbiex?

It’s no surprise that Ta’ Xbiex is one of the most desirable locations to live in Malta. It’s a village nestled on its own peninsula, with an outlook over the Marsamxett Harbour and iconic views of Valletta and Manoel Island.

Positioned between the bustling towns of Gzira and Msida, Ta’ Xbiex benefits from its own harbour road with little traffic; a mini haven one might say.

In its earlier days Ta’ Xbiex was renowned for being the home to grand embassies and although some have departed, the majority remain today. It gives Ta’ Xbiex a touch of the regal, a colonial feel and a sense of grandeur and importance.

There is also no doubt that Ta’ Xbiex holds most of the cards when it comes to yachting life. The harbour edges are crammed full of marinas with beautiful yachts of all sizes.

The Royal Malta Yacht Club stands proudly on the waters-edge, with is state of the art facilities, popular sailing school, and is a hub for most of the yacht racing around the Maltese Islands.

The Royal Malta Yacht Club also plays host to the Rolex Middle Sea Race – one of the biggest coastal races in the world with over a hundred spectacular racing yachts taking part – Ta’ Xbiex, every year, becomes the meeting point of the world yachting community with racing teams from across all corners of the globe.

Good restaurants and cafes are in abundance around Ta’ Xbiex with a diverse choice of cuisines. Our favourite options include the Water Polo Club and The Galley for excellent Mediterranean dishes, and just a few minutes walk further down the harbour there’s a fabulous Mexican cafe, a Sushi bar, Brasa - a Portuguese Churrascaria and the most recent addition; a high-end Indian Cuisine Restaurant – Shakinah. We recommend them all!

Small independent boutique shops sit next to vibrant cafes, galleries and luxury yacht companies - all positioned along the front in old converted boat houses – it’s very pretty, stylish and super cool.

It’s an attractive destination for overseas businesses to set up office – most recently Betsson Group, one of the largest i-gaming companies in Europe, has moved their head offices into the centre. Ta’ Xbiex has everything they need for their hundreds of employees.

Location is important to most of us and Ta’ Xbiex benefits from being only 10 minutes from St Julian’s, 5 minutes from Sliema and Valletta. The airport is approximately a 15 minute drive.

Private property choices in Ta’ Xbiex are either large modern luxury apartments with sweeping terraces overlooking the harbour, or villas with mature gardens, fruit trees, pools (ground level and roof-top), traditional Maltese tiled floors and classical architecture with large, cool airy spaces.

Property is at a premium, but with good reason; Ta’ Xbiex will always be an exclusive address.
